Priority 1

2025-26

Refine, evaluate, and enhance our comprehensive staff development plan to support instructional staff at all levels to prepare students who are college, career, military and workforce ready.

Strategic Priority One – Impactful Instruction

Importance
There is significant research to support the importance of teacher effectiveness and the role it plays in student academic achievement, academic growth, and success beyond high school. Therefore, teachers who deliver impactful instruction will have the highest student success rates.

Action Steps

  • On-going refinements and informed improvements of Instructional Coaching
  • On Boarding refinements
  • Mentorship refinements
  • Evaluation of Professional Development
  • Observations during instructional time: Admin; Instructional Coaches; DIT Team
  • COMTSS District Implementation Team (DIT) continuous goal refelction and work toward problem of Practice
    • There is minimal/inadequate school- wide median growth percentile in math using the School Profile Report because instruction is ineffective due to lack of formal and informal professional development targeted to math, testing conditions, potentially misaligned content, across disciplinary connections to math lack.
  • Using the data collected during that review, LASD leadership teams met with CDE in July 2025 to draft our “Big Rocks” to move the dial on teaching and learning.
  • We utilize the Comprehensive Training Opportunities for Paraprofessionals (CO-TOP) resource to facilitate training for our paras throughout the school year.
